I fell in love with this clip from the first time I saw it on Instagram. Oh, it spoke volumes to me. At one time in my life, I was left at the altar. Literally, hehehe. About a year after, my aunt who I never see because she lives centuries away was in town and she asked about my almost-wedding.
“He decided I wasn’t good enough,” I told her. She didn’t miss a beat before sharply telling me, “No, it’s he who wasn’t good enough. You hear me?” To which I sheepishly nodded my head. She proceeded to give me a mini lecture on how I should never let anyone erode my self worth or make me feel less than awesome. “If anyone decides they no longer want to be in your life it’s their loss. Doesn’t make you any less amazing.” God bless her heart.
But there’s always a reason why we feel like maybe they’re right, and we really are not good enough. We’re clumsy, we stammer, we’re disfigured, not funny enough, not pretty enough. We’re boring, not the life of the party. Too fat maybe, or too thin. Or maybe there’s a horrible past lurking in the shadows and we haven’t been able to free ourselves from it’s hold. I’m sure everyone has a situation in their lives where they feel they should’ve done better, said better, been better. The end result is regret, and the drama of shoulda, coulda, woulda.
Bla bla bla.
Love yourself, forgive yourself. Accept yourself. Nobody will believe you’re beautiful until you believe it first. See, there’s never going to be a you like the you that you are right now, flaws, scars and all. Understand this. So the sooner you embrace the unique awesomeness that is your total package, and turn those flaws into colourful stripes of beauty, the better. How’d them N Sync put it? What makes you different makes you beautiful.
There’s a feeling i have when i write these things. I cannot describe it. I just know I’m right. The world is waiting to see you explode. You are a star, whether you want to be or not. Don’t take my word for it. Ask God. He says he fashioned you after divinity, how awesome is that?
Be great, be you.
P.S. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? So much has been happening and well, Christmas is upon us, yaaay! (That was for the holiday freaks. I’m not one of them) Don’t you just love the new face of the blog though? Don’t be a lurking stranger, hehe.
