MY MARRIAGE VOWS: THE SECOND TIME I GOT MARRIED
Last month, okay last year (I’m rolling my eyes vigorously), because I know many people cannot wait to remind me that this is 2015. Well, 2014 was barely 2 days ago, so there.
Anyway, I was going to talk about Ibinabo Fiberesima, the actress who got married for the first time in December. Beautiful love story if you ask me. She married someone she had known all her life. They’d been friends since they were teenagers, you see, and only got married about over twenty years later.
Just like them, I have known you all my life, and have shared every experience with you, but it’s taken me all this time to fall in love with you in the true sense of the word. You see, for most of my life, I just took it for granted that we would always be together, that creation had us bound like white on rice, and you would always be with me to the end.
But darling Self, I have watched you grow, as I have grown, with many stumbles and even more falters. I have watched you find yourself in a world where being lost is the fad. I’ve seen you slowly blossom, like a sunflower. Shyly and very hesitantly, drawing from the Essence of life itself, and becoming who you were really made to be. Understanding, even when no one else understood, and not letting anything keep you under.
I have watched your heart slowly heal, every time it was bashed to pieces by the ones who swore to protect it. And I’ve watched you be not afraid to try again. In all this time, you have morphed into one of the kindest, most giving people I know, and this is why I have fallen madly, hopelessly in love with you.
So today, I make this vow.
To love you in the purest, deepest way I know how. To help you with your growth. To help you on this journey to self, to become who you were made to be, and to keep at it even if I die I doing it. I vow to show you every day, what life truly is, to share with you the depths, to discover more and more its intricacies, and to guide you through the maze. I vow to never give your heart out wrongly again, and to fiercely protect your honour and your body (which includes the burning away of all this fat), and to teach you to live an ever joyful life, no matter what.
I make this vow today, you know the date, so help me God.
Hehehe. There’s just no chill in 2015. This is my promise to myself, and I totally plan to keep it. Maybe, just maybe, you too should do same. But first, wish me happy married life. Very soon, I’ll tell you all about the first time I got married, lol.
Be great, always.
